Hello Everyone!
The K Team is ready to start our first ever Distance Learning adventure. Below you will find our team letter outlining our basic plan for distance learning. Take a few minutes to look it over. Today you will be receiving login information for Seesaw. We will be using this platform for teacher-student communication. I am looking forward to connecting with each student soon! No instruction will begin until Monday, March 30th. We are just connecting and getting things set between now and then. Albany Kindergarten Distance Learning First and foremost, please know that we are thinking about you constantly. We have worked as a team to create activities for you and your child that will work toward meeting the MN kindergarten standards. HOWEVER, we want you to know we understand that many of you are facing changing challenges daily. Your family is your first priority. We are providing these opportunities to you with flexibility. Platform We will be using Seesaw as our platform for delivering information and class interactions. You can still ask direct questions and communicate using our e-mail. We will all be learning this together. The Seesaw class app can be put on your device or you can access the Seesaw website: https://web.seesaw.me/ Attendance Each teacher will be sending a link to a google form to be completed daily for attendance. You can also find this link on our class Weebly site. Save this link! You will need it to complete attendance by 9:00am every school day. Activities are NOT required to be completed on non-school days. They are still listed for you as an extension. Assignments Each week we will share a thematic plan via email. There are activities listed for you to do with your child each day. The individual days will be posted in Seesaw as well. We designed these activities with the knowledge that kindergarteners learn best through play and exploration. Our students should be interacting with their environment and the people around them. Please modify, extend, substitute, or adjust the activities as needed to fit your family and your student. Consider doing them throughout the day with breaks in between. We want these activities to be feasible for your child and your family. Share at least one thing you do each day to your teacher through Seesaw. Our goal is for Kindergarteners to spend an hour a day on school work. Again, please make this work for your situation! Specialists There is a box for specialists at the bottom of each week’s plan. Check out what our specialists have for you. Other things to do At the end of each week’s plan you will find other activities to try. These are simply suggestions of additional activities if you are looking for more to do with your child. These are not required! If you have suggestions to add, please share them via Seesaw. We are all learning together! Your K Team

Good Morning,
I have had a few questions come up, which is good. Please email me whenever you have questions. This is new for all of us. -Yes, I welcome mail during this time. My mailing address is 807 2nd Avenue, Albany, MN 56307. -You should have picked up a zip lock bag from your child's locker last week. This bag should have included supplies such as pencils, glue sticks, and markers. There were also a few sheets that your child could work on. None of these items or papers need to be returned to school. -Kindergarten will NOT have anything to pick up today. We plan to send out everything online. -Distance Learning does not officially start until Monday, March 30th. I am meeting with the kindergarten team at 10:30 this morning to finalize our plans. I will send an email later today with specific details of what distance learning will look like in kindergarten. -The Kindergarten Distance Learning plans should take your child about an hour a day to complete. Some days will take a little less time and some days may take longer. -I know this is a stressful time for everyone. One of the most important things that you can do now is to spend time with your family. Read together. Play outside together. Eat meals together. Play toys together. Do projects together. Do chores around the house together. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are in this together. Stephanie Good Evening,
I am sure missing my kindergarteners today. I am really missing their hugs, big smiles and wonderful stories. Below is a link to a video that Albany Elementary made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj3vfseWgCY&fbclid=IwAR15KhdxUHHqb6yqhfnJeUlU9J8AJJIJJg6c-6rgUYlHdRb6nYyrQC3Qnc0 Hello Kindergarten Families.
I hope this email finds you well and healthy. I am missing the kids so much. You have probably seen the email from Mrs. Schultz regarding device and supply pick up. KINDERGARTEN DOES NOT have items to be picked up. We already sent our "school kits" with the locker pick up last week. Further instructions regarding remote learning will be emailed to you, later this week. There are no additional supplies needed for Kindergarten at this time. Please let me know if you have any questions. Stephanie Hello Everyone!
School is so quiet without the students here. I miss each and every child so much. I have added each student to our Epic-Books for Kids account. This is a free resource that parents/students can use to find books to read. This is a free resource until the end of the school year. I believe there is a small fee to keep using this resource after the school year. You will be getting an email from Epic shortly to confirm that you want to use this resource. Please let me know if you have any questions. Stephanie Good Afternoon,
I am missing your child so much! Please tell them that Mrs. Sauerer misses them and says "hi"! I have included a note below with some updates. Due to Elizabeth feeling better and the change in circumstances, I have ended my leave early. As long as Elizabeth stays healthy, I plan to be here the rest of the school year. I will be checking my email on a daily basis. Email will be the best way to reach me. With that being said, I will be out tomorrow, during scheduled locker clean out times. All of your child's supplies, including their report card and headphones are in their locker for you to pick up. As always, please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for all you do for your child! Kindergarten Information First, A Message to our students: WE MISS YOU! We are thinking of you and can’t wait to hear about how you are spending this time. Supplies: When you pick up your child’s belongings, you will also be picking up some supplies for distance learning. Keep these supplies in a safe place. From now until March 27th, your child does not have any specific assignments to complete. However, we know that you may be looking for ideas to keep your Kinder busy. Feel free to use any of these supplies and/or the ideas on our e-learning grid. Internet Access: We would like to get an accurate count of who will have access to the internet. Please let your teacher know if you will NOT have access during distance learning. More Info to Come: Please know that we are working and planning. Use this time with your family to settle into a new normal. We will communicate our plans to you as they are ready. We will all learn and grow together! Stephanie Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am sad to be informing you that I will be taking a leave of absence to be home with my daughter. Elizabeth has been very sick the past few months. I will be having a long term substitute teacher taking my place. This will help with consistency in our classroom for the kindergarteners. I plan to return after Easter break in April. Homework will not be sent home while I am gone If you have any bus changes/after school changes, please call the office at 845-5200. They will get the notes to the sub while I am gone. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your understanding, Stephanie Sauerer Good Afternoon,
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. I was excited to hear all of the kid's stories this morning of all of the fun things they did. I will be starting homework bags today. Each student has a ziplock bag with a packet of letters or rhyming words. Please have your child practice the cards once or twice a night. Bags should be returned to school each Monday. I will check the cards with the kids each Monday and send a new packet of cards home on Tuesdays. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all of your support at home! Stephanie Good Afternoon,
We are having so much fun celebrating the 100th day of kindergarten! Students made fruit loop necklaces and crowns this morning. This afternoon, they are going to count and share their 100 objects that they brought in and play a "Race to 100" game. Monday: 100th Day of School and conferences Tuesday: Conferences Wednesday: Valentine's Day Party Thursday: No School Friday: No School Have a great week! Stephanie Good Afternoon,
We had a fun week celebrating snow days by dressing up each day. The students and I loved it! We also learned about groundhogs. We will celebrate Groundhog's Day on Monday. Ask your child about what groundhogs eat. (They had a special groundhog vegetable snack this week.) February is my second favorite month of kindergarten (after December). We get to celebrate Groundhog's Day, the 100th day of school and Valentine's Day. We also get to meet for conferences. If you have not signed up for a conference time, please do so as soon as possible. Please see the calendar below for special dates. Have a great weekend! Stephanie |
